How to Play
THE GAME
Hangin’ On The Yard is a card game for the culture, that can be played individually, or on teams. If there are 4 or more people, we suggest team play for more excitement.
SUPPLIES
All HBCU’s teach you to be resourceful, and to make it work with whatever resources you have. Keeping with that theme, you will need to provide your own paper, pen/pencils, and a timer(your phone).
1. Players are divided into teams. (Team 1 and Team 2)
2. Players from each team should stagger seats, (1,2,1,2,1,2) around the table. This is because each question requires a fact checker.
3. The “Picture That” category gets 90 seconds to draw and answer. The remaining categories get 60 seconds to read/answer. If the timer runs out, nobody gets a point, and it’s the next teams turn.
4. You can choose to lay cards in center of table in color groups(red, black, green, yellow, purple), or shuffle them together, and place in center of table.
5. If you play based on colors, a round consists of one player from each team drawing a card from the same category (with the fact checker assuring the question and answer are correct) . Once each team has completed a category, both teams move on to the next category, until all five categories have been played. Once all five categories have been played, both teams go back to the first category, and scoring continues until a team reaches 20 points.
6. If playing with a shuffled deck, the teams decide who will draw from the top of the deck first. Once that player reads the question to his team (with the fact checker assuring the question and answer are correct), the person to the right(who should be from the other team) now draws a card from the top of the deck.
7. If a player draws an “Oh Know You Didn’t” card, they must show the fact checker their answer before reading the question to their team.
8. Each team is allowed ONE pass. If you pass your question to the opposing team and they get it correct, that team gets 2 points. If the opposing team does not answer correctly, the passing team gets one point.
9. Once a card is read, it is discarded into a “used” pile.
If you want to play a quick game, set a timer for 30minutes. The first team to 10 points, or who has the most points at the end of 30 minutes is the winner.
SCORING
The winning team is the team that reaches 20 points first.
If all of the questions in the deck have been read, the team with the most points at that time is the winner.
DRINKING VERSION
If you want to add drinking to the game, pick one category before play starts. If either team draws that category, and they DO NOT answer correctly, someone on that team must take a shot. If they DO answer correctly, someone on the opposing team must take a shot.
(Your house, your rules! So whatever drinking rules you come up with, is how you play.)
Drinking may make the game more interesting, but please drink responsibly. You must be 21+ to play the drinking version of this game
HAVE FUN!!!!
